Under constant support and guidance from the members of “Experimental TES-HIENET”, the Mentors, as well as from the permanent staff of the institutions, our European volunteers, are offering voluntary services to several local institutions (Nursery Schools, Kindergartens, Primary Schools and Special Education Schools) while also working on our many educational and cultural websites and our ESC radio. Volunteers work 6 hours per day, 5 days per week. Some of the tasks are the following and depend of the cooperating Organization’s needs and the capacity of the volunteer:
a) Educational, Cultural and Sport cooperation on Education and New Technologies:
a1) Taking part -as assistant teachers- in the educational procedure, also realizing environmental, cultural and sport activities at a Primary school or Kindergarten or a Day Nursery of the Island. Volunteers will be assisting the permanent staff of all the cooperating institutions, the trainers at the sport activities, the organizers of the Cultural, Environmental and Educational Events etc.
a2) “Learning by using and Producing” Educational, Cultural, Sport and Tourist Projects.
a3) Together with the members of “Experimental Technology Education Sports TES-HIENET”, as well as with the support of the parents of the children, the teachers, permanent staff and directors of the institutions we cooperate with, our Volunteers are realizing our very popular Summer activities for the children of the local community. Volunteers organize creative educational activities activities that contain games and songs or even drawing competitions. Children of all ages from the local community have fun while learn, practice foreign language and feel included in a European family in which everyone is welcome.
a4) Offering help to the Elderly and people in poverty institutions of the Island. Volunteers assist in the serving and cooking procedure of the kitchen of a public elderly house that is understaffed. While serving freshly cooked food to the elderly, young volunteers offer the warmth and their service for no material gain. The impact is immediate and obvious on the smiling faces of the elderly, showing their gratitude with some pleasant words.
a5) Realizing New Technologies seminars to educators, parents, youngsters and children. Volunteers through non- formal learning, organize seminars about new technologies for the people of the local community. Locals have the chance to learn the basics on how to use a computer, the components of a computer, basic tools and text and spreadsheets programs, basic knowledge on video and photo editing and even learn what internet and webpages are while learning how to easily create a blog or a website.
b) Realization of Non-profit New Technologies, Educational, Sports, Cultural programs and Presentations in local educational institutions or in our organizations working place.
b1) Creation of new ideas and realization of activities, Videos, Web sites, texts translation, participation in cultural and social activities. Volunteers are encouraged to come up with new ideas that can be implemented in order to effectively promote the ESC ideals while giving priority to ideas concerning the promotion of green sustainability and environmental protection.
b2) Promotion and publication of the results of our activities at the web site http://www.4youth.eu/ and in many other web sites.
c) Our ESC Internet Radio. Responsible for the technical part, the sound and general management, development and realization of recordings, sound mixing, interviews, news to the H/O’s on-line ESC internet radio station www.chiosradio.gr and its web site, which promote education, environment, culture and sport.
d) Our Place. Keeping the hosting and working places clean and in order (building, garden, etc).
In all the activities of our Organization’s projects our Volunteers have an important but at the same time complementary role. They use the cooperating and non-formal learning process, as well as the exchange of knowledge and ideas. Some of the activities our volunteers will be assisting with during their volunteering work at the educational institutions are helping the teachers to teach to the children how to properly wear and use their face masks, how to keep the mandatory distances during the teaching hours and the school breaks, how to properly use hand sanitizers and how to wash their hands correctly and last but not least, how to continue their everyday activities and habits while remaining safe and protecting themselves and the others.
All those activities will be realized under the constant guidance and assistance from the team of the H/O, the mentors and the teachers and permanent staff of the Cooperating Educational Institutions and will strengthen the Social Awareness and Solidarity to everyone involved such us to the volunteers themselves, the young people, the children and the teachers of the schools, as well as to the parents and hence to the local community.
