Web Projects

The local community where our Organization’s base lies, is a marginalized community which even though situated in an island in the Aegean sea with a very deep history, colorful traditions and beautiful villages, landscapes and beaches, has never flourished as a tourism destination. Young people have very few opportunities to learn and interact with people from other countries and/or cultures. Xenophobia is an important derivation of this situation. Our New Technologies activity’s aim focuses in providing information, a need that remains constant in our ever changing daily lives.
Volunteers who participate in this activity, have the chance to create or update educational websites that contain information about the local history, culture and traditions in many different languages. These websites’ target is people from all around the world that are interested in learning about Chios Island, Greek and European history and mythology, physics and much more. Another part of this activity is updating our organization’s e-radio. Volunteers write articles about the local culture and their experiences by living on Chios island and record them and upload them on the e-radio. This e-radio gives the opportunity of people from all around the world to hear about the experiences of young European citizens in our island and take interest in being a part of an ESC project for a worthwhile cause and having a lifetime experience. Of course the creativity of the young volunteers in all these projects is what gives life and brings interest from the locals to our projects.

This Activity of course goes along with other activities of our organization such as the educational support.
Our volunteers have the chance to present the websites they work with, or some parts of them, to local primary schools and kindergartens. In this way they teach the youngsters of our local community about the differences in our cultures and the beauty in expanding their knowledge about the place where they grow up thus promoting indiscriminate inclusion and multiculturalism.
