If you are Citizen from any part of the World 18 to 50 years of age and you are interested in the Kindergarten Support Project: On the Kindergarten Support project volunteers are placed in Kindergartens and Nursery Schools throughout Chios Island. You can expect to assist the local teachers and staff with their daily routine and caring for children who range in age from 3 to 6 years. Classroom activities include helping the local teachers and staff with arts and crafts, mealtimes, cleaning, administration work, classroom preparation and rearrangements as well as playing with the children during break time. Volunteers need to take initiative, improvise, be flexible and willing to get involved in a variety of different tasks as needed.
As volunteers work with the support of our Organization and placement staff, you do not need to be a qualified or experienced Kindergarten teacher to participate, but you are required to have previous experience with caring for children. You should keep in mind that the volunteers’ role is to assist the local teachers and placement staff.
Volunteers will be expected to participate in the daily routine as needed and due to language barriers, volunteers may have a supporting and observatory role during some activities.
